"As a culture we go to extreme lengths to avoid feeling things, attempting to control life and avoid the agony of separation and the inevitability of death. But in our attempt to avoid the depth of pain, the inevitably of death and agony of separation we too avoid the bliss, extreme joy, ecstasy and other extremes of truly living. We numb out the negative and in doing so numb out the positive. We banish the uncomfortableness and in doing so deny ourselves the sweetness of true comfort. By not feeling our anger be bypass our passion. By not feeling the agony we bypass the ecstasy. By not feeling the heart ripping throws grief we bypass the devotional depths of deep deep love."
