Ten Years Ago, I left Japan...

It was ten years ago, I taught the band to play...It's been a long strange trip was my words at the Matsue BOE farewell enkai. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. In my two years of Japan, I got to go "home" to Australia to visit a dear friend and to travel around Asia, get my PADI open water certificate, dealt with three family deaths abroad and one when I returned, made friends from around the world, get lost in remote ancient lands, taught English and culture to the people I meant, and most important allowed myself to grow from the heart! Travel opens your eyes and your heart! It teaches you things that you wouldn't learn if you stayed at home watching the "Real World" on MTV or any other reality program! It teaches you how to live, be present, embrace the moment. I never would have thought that ten years later from living in "The Land of The Rising Sun" that I would have sailed from Southeast Alaska to the Panama Canal, go "home" to Ireland twice, getting my PADI Divemasters in Utica, kissed a gray whale in Mexico, step foot on "the white continent" to see the penguins and ice, go to South Africa and surprising visit Dubai. Oh, the places that you'll go..."Wherever you go, go with all your heart." ~Confucius I just hope that I haven't been forgotten in my travels with the friends that are my family and the ones that I've inspired in one way or another...sending out love to everyone!
