The Importance of Loving Yourself

I've been touched by Louise Hay's work. It all started one fall/autumn when I decided to pick up a copy of her famous book How You Can Heal Your Life. At that time, I just started to work with saying affirmations first thing in the morning. I remember a friend of mine teaching me in her office about the importance of them and to start each sentence off with the words "I Am". Little did I know that I wrote these affirmations on an index card and said them every morning. About 5 years later, I'm still touched with saying them (my list has grown to be truthful to a few pages long) as part of my morning mediation routine. I have of course been told that I'm crazy for having such a routine. I find that it gives me discipline to start my day. I much prefer to give and honor the power to myself rather than giving it away to someone else, like going into work without being kind to myself first and no meditation what so ever. I take my mediation practice seriously, it grounds me! I will admit that I wasn't the person that I am today, there was a dark side of me. Oh yes, someone who hated themselves for all of the challenges that I went threw as a kid. To be honest, if I didn't have those challenges, I wouldn't be blessed with the gifts that I have. It's time for me to deepen honoring myself (owning my power) first and to let that radiate onto others to be the light.

The world needs your special gifts to shine and blossom. Let us build bridges rather than promoting fear and self hatred in ourselves rather than lifting others up to be the best version of themselves. We are moving away from the homosapien culture of one sidedness of the us v. them approach to the homolomious culture of unconditional love for all. It's time to honor loving ourselves first and let that be the radiate life force onto others.  We must take back our power and learn to cultivate loving kindness in our heart center from there we can allow that to radiate onto others. We must first love ourselves and then we can love everything else.

I recently, received one of those Hay House newsletters where I found some amazing inspiration from it. I just wanted to share with you the importance of loving yourself.

"Come from that wonderful, caring spot of your heart. Stay centered and love who you are. Know that you really are a Divine, Magnificent Expression of Life. No matter what is going on out there, you are centered. You have a right to your feelings. You have a right to your opinions. You just are. Work on loving yourself. Work on opening your heart. Sometimes it is scary to do that because the answers you get inside may be quite different from what your friends want you to do. Yet you know inwardly what is right for you. And if you follow this inner wisdom, you are at peace with your own being.

Support yourself in making the right choices for yourself. When you are in doubt, ask yourself: “Am I coming from the loving space of my heart? Is this a decision that is nurturing for me? Is this right for me now?” The decision you make at some later point—a day, a week, or a month later—may no longer be the right choice, and then you can change it. Ask in every moment: “Is this right for me?” And say: “I love myself and I am making the right choices.”

"Work on doing what is right for you and getting in touch with your own inner voice. Your inner wisdom knows the right answers for you."
