Sink Into A Book...
I love to read. It's no joke. I usually have a book going almost all the time. I like to explore new things and to dig deep into the parts of me that need healing. I've been glued to Maria Shriver's new book, I've Been Thinking...Reflections, Prayers, Meditations for a Meaningful Life. There's so much beauty in this book. It's a page turner that's for sure. It's about discovering who Maria is, and it goes far greater than her famous Kennedy family, NBC new anchor, mother, and First Lady of California. There's really an amazing women underneath that and she comes from the heart with so much love and compassion for all. The book is set up in small chapters as you would call them with a quote to start you off before she talks about the issue and finishes with a prayer.
"The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently."
~Pema Chodron
In a way this book reminded me of reading a Marianne Williamson book with the topic that it addresses. Topics such as the heart of America is missing in politics, mothering, empathy, hope, the power of being a women, the power of the mind, gratitude, pausing, silence, thank you, seeking out the jewel from within and so much more. These are the things that need to be address more than ever. Sadly, to say that the human conditioning has been taught to look at shame, guild, denial and let's not talk about it to be the way we do things in the world. The world is changing and we must start to honor ourselves and look deep inside ourselves to seek out the jewel's that we hold. Our story may be the light for another to seek out the healing that they so deeply deserve.
"Time is our most precious resource, but very few of us use it as wisely as we could. We rush around so much that sometimes we forget to actually live."
~Maria Shriver
